Dr. William Glasser Will be Missed

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you news that Dr. William Glasser passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013.

Dr. Glasser Passing

In these days of shock at losing our great friend and mentor, Bill Glasser, we are aware that many of those whose lives he helped change wish to express how they feel about him. We have decided to create a special tribute page on our website so that you can express your sentiments but also tell stories about your time with Bill. Hopefully, Carleen and other members of Bill’s family will be able to read the comments and appreciate just how well-loved and respected Bill was all around the globe.

The page is located at www.wglasserinternational.org.

Aspen Library Receives Prestigious Grant

Our library received a grant from the LBSS Endowment Fund of the Illinois School Library Media Association (ISLMA).  Aspen School was one of forty-five libraries to receive a set of 2013-2014 Monarch Award nominated books.  More that 165 libraries applied to receive one of the Reader’s Choice awards grants given this year.  The Monarch Award is an Illinois Readers’ Choice Award for grades K-3.  There are twenty books on the list selected from a range of genres and are wonderful choices for students of these ages.
Aspen School also received the Read for Information grant from this organization last year.
For more information about the grant and the Readers’ Choice Awards for students, please refer to this link http://www.lbssfund.org//index.htm and http://www.islma.org/monarch.htm.

Classroom Websites: Please Be Patient

We all know how important the classroom websites are to parents and students, so teachers work very hard to keep theirs as current as possible.  This year many teachers are in the process learning a new webpage program.  Please be patient if you find a classroom site less than current.
