Halloween Week Fun in PE

Mr. Carlsen wants to share all the fun the PE dept. is having this Halloween week.  Enjoy the activities HERE

Lunch Without Tears

Parents, please help your child decide on their lunch choice before they come to school.  We are seeing a lot of confusion, and then some tears, when they a order a lunch in homeroom, but it isn’t what they thought it would be when they get to the cafeteria.

The lunches offered are not prepared on site, and a final count is sent to the offsite kitchen by 9:00am. Once a decision is made the children cannot change their minds as this can cause shortages for other students. Please help us avoid this issue by going over the lunch options before you kiss your child good-bye in the morning.

Here is the link to the current lunch menus:

Student Supervision Begins at 7:40 am.

Parents, please remember that students should not be dropped off for school before 7:40 am.  Children will not have adult supervision before that time.  Thank you for your understanding.  The safety of all our children is our top priority.

Hawthorn’s Notification System / Sistema de Notificación de Hawthorn

If school will be closed due to snow or other emergencies, Hawthorn will communicate in several ways:

  • We will send a recorded message to the home phone number on file for each student, unless a parent modifies that request.
  • We will post information on the District website   www.hawthorn73.org
  • We will send information to www.emergencyclosings.com, which in turn sends information to local radio and TV stations.

District Technology Assessment

Beginning in October, Hawthorn will be working with Single Path, a technology management and enhancement company, to assess the state of our District’s technology and make suggestions for improving our resources to better serve students and staff. Part of Single Path’s efforts will incorporate physically assessing our existing technology resources and how they are used in the classroom.  Please read the following backpack letter from Superintendent, Nick Brown:
