Aspen Updates March 3, 2017

NO SCHOOL on Monday, March 6 in observance of Casimir Pulaski Day!  Enjoy the extra day off!

Selected 4th graders will be taking the NAEP test on Tuesday, March 7.  NAEP is the largest continuing and nationally representative assessment of what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is a congressionally mandated project administered by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), within the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education.  The test is different from our state assessment because it provides a common measure of student achievement across the country.  We are confident our students will show what our nation’s students know and can do.

Our kindergartners and first graders are lucky enough to have Brian Gryn, author of The Magic Zoo, come to their classrooms and will be reading his book and talking about being an author on March 7 and March 8.  A flyer and order form for his book has already been sent home for anyone interested in purchasing his book.  Forms and money must be turned in to school by March 3.

Trimester 3 begins on Wednesday, March 8.  We are on the home stretch of the school year!  Report cards for the second trimester will be distributed on Monday, March 20.

When writing checks to school for any reason – field trips, lunch money, fee payments, lost books, etc., please make sure you make the checks out to Hawthorn School District 73.
