Aspen Updates March 9, 2018

PARCC TESTING CONTINUES

PARCC testing continues through April 20th.  Again, we ask your help in preparing your students in the following ways:

  • Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and comes to school well-rested for the assessments.
  • A healthy breakfast would also benefit your child and has been proven to help students achieve higher academic success.
  • Please be sure and let us know if your student will be leaving earlier than the regular dismissal times.  We will not start their assessment in that case.  It will need to be made up at another time, taking away from other instructional times.
  • If your child is sick, please do not send him/her to school!  We have built-in make up days for those students who miss a test due to illness.  Sniffling, sneezing, coughing, etc. all serve as distractions for those taking the assessments.

We look forward to great results!

TRIMESTER 3 HAS BEGUN!

Believe it or not, we have begun the final trimester of this school year!  That means report cards for trimester 2 will be coming home soon.  Please look for report cards in your child’s backpack on Friday, March 16.  Please encourage your students to finish strong!

5TH GRADE BAND & ORCHESTRA FIELD TRIP

Our 5th grade band and orchestra students will be going to the Little People’s Festival in Northfield on Thursday, March 15 during the school day. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to perform for others and receive feedback from other great coaches, who will give constructive criticism and tips to our students to help them develop their skills.  Parents are encouraged to support your students by being a part of the audience.  Just let Mr. Fritz or Ms. Lee know ahead of time that you want to attend.

ART SHOW AT THE ASPEN DRIVE (COOK MEMORIAL) LIBRARY

Don’t miss the opening of the Art Show at the Aspen Drive Library (Cook Memorial) on Thursday, March 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. If you miss the opening, drop by any time prior to Saturday, April 7.

PTO MOTHER/DAUGHTER TEA

This Saturday, March 10, is the PTO-sponsored Mother/Daughter tea at the Vernon Hills Park District Sullivan Center for 4th grade girls and their moms or mother figures.  The registration is through the PTO.
