Aspen Updates October 21, 2016

Red Ribbon Week begins next week. The goals of Red Ribbon Week are to focus on leading a healthy, successful life.  We will celebrate each day with a different activity:

Monday, October 24 – All students will take the Red Ribbon Pledge during morning announcements.

Tuesday, October 25 – Turn your back on drugs! Students may wear their shirt backwards.

Wednesday, October 26 – Put a lid on drugs! Students may wear their favorite hat to school.

Thursday, October 27 – Sock it to Drugs! Students wear their craziest or mismatched socks.

Friday, October 28 – Wear RED day!  Students show their pride in being drug free by wearing red.

All are invited to the Cook Library on Aspen Drive to hear Mr. Fredricksen read some of his favorite stories on Monday, October 24.  Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m., and story time begins at 6:45 p.m.  Don’t miss it!

Join us on October 27 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Aspen School’s Library for an entertaining and insightful workshop titled “Bringing Quality Home: Creating Continuity Between Aspen and Home” taught by Mrs. Szoke, Mrs. Zurek and Mrs. Carson. This program is for PARENTS ONLY (no children please).

Our 4th grade classes will be splitting up to go on a field trip to Ryerson Woods on Friday, October 27 and 28.  Mrs. Motley and Mrs. Gifford’s  (sub is Mrs. Lindquist) classes will go on Thursday, October 27.  Miss Green, Mrs. Lardo and Ms. Wolfson will go on Friday, October 28.

Our second grade classes will also be going on a field trip on Friday, October 28. They will be enjoying the beautiful Botanic Gardens.
