AFPC Family Night on November 3rd

Please join us for our next Aspen Family Night, Friday, November 3rd,  from 6:30-8:00pm, featuring America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Matt Wilhelm.  Matt is the fastest spinner in the world on a BMX Bike, and will perform an exciting array of BMX bike tricks while explaining how he rode his way to the top.  In addition to an action packed bike show, Matt will deliver a entertaining and engaging message to empower students with a focus on resilience, a never give up attitude,  and anti-bullying.   You are not going to want to miss this show, so mark your calendars today.  In addition to the entertainment, we will be selling Culvers vanilla custard in the cafeteria.

AFPC Family Dance

Aspen students, families, and faculty came together last Friday to dance the night away with D.J. Extraordinaire Lou Loiben of Personalities, Inc.  Thank you to Maureen Collier and Stephanie Freed for organizing this wonderful event.  A big thank you to our great faculty and staff for attending:  Ms. Lardo, Mrs. Saliba, Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Sweeney, Mrs. Bonnem, Ms. Sanchez, Ms. Alex, and Ms. Burke. And thank you to our parent helpers: Maggie Rausa, Amanda Burt and Nicole Carson (and any other parents who jumped in to help!). We look forward to seeing you on November 3rd at our next Family Night!

Aspen Family Partnership Council (AFPC) 2017-2018 Events

Mark your calendars for the 2017-2018 AFPC events!  Our Family Nights will be from 6:30-8 p.m.:  August 25, November 3, February 16 and April 13.

The Parent Education Team will hold a workshop on October 3 from 7-9 pm for parents only and The Family University will be on February 3.  Look for sign-up information to help with these events, and to volunteer on any of our AFPC Teams, at all fall back-to-school events or visit our web page .

Thanks to all of our amazing Aspen Family Partnership Council Volunteers.  We are so grateful for the many hours you spent this year to bring our families and community together and to help our teachers!  Look for sign-ups in the fall!  Mark your calendars for our 2017-2018 Aspen Family Nights on August 25, November 3, February 16, April 13 and our Family University on February 3.  We’re looking forward to another great year!

Aspen’s 10th Annual Family University

There are still spots available-if you forgot to register, or your plans changed and you can now attend, please Nicole Carson (see contact info below) to register.  Parents of 2017-2018 incoming students are welcome to register, but our Children’s Program is only for currently enrolled Aspen families.


Parent Program:  All parents will have their choice of attending two workshops out of four that are being offered:  (1) The ABC’s of Anxiety—How to Help Your Children Transform Anxiety and Worry into Confidence with Kim Olver (Glasser Institute Executive Director and acclaimed speaker/author); (2) Mean, Playful Teasing or Bullying-Understand the Differences with Mr. Fredricksen (Aspen Principal); (3) Caring vs Deadly Habits—How to Build Loving, Life-long Relationships with Your Children with Glasser Trained Teachers Mrs. Szoke (1st Grade), Mrs. Motley (4th Grade), Mrs. Gerjol (Learning Center) & Mrs. Carson (Guest Educator, Glasser Faculty); and (4) Marvin Marshall’s Teachings with Mrs. Manchester (Music Teacher).  Parents of students starting at Aspen in the fall of 2017 are invited to register and attend the Parent Program, but the Children’s Program is only for CURRENTLY enrolled Aspen families.

Children’s Program (children MUST be at least 4 years old and currently enrolled Aspen family):  Our awesome educational program is taught by Mrs. Brocks, Mrs. Caby,  Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Kirby, Ms. Lardo, Ms. Lindquist, Mrs. Loiben, Mrs. Medbery, Ms. Sturgill, Mrs. Weiss & Ms. Wolfson.  Kids 4 years old through 1st Grade will learn how to identify their basic needs and meet them responsibly through age-appropriate educational activities which include team-building games, physical exercise, creative projects and story-telling.  Kids in 2nd Grade and up will learn about their Quality Worlds and meeting their needs effectively and responsibly through fun and engaging activities, including the popular egg-toss experiment.  A snack will be provided.  (Aspen Graduates are needed…if they’d like to volunteer to help, please note so on your registration form or contact Mrs. Carson).

AFPC Fall Conference Dinner

The AFPC is hosting an amazing dinner for our teachers on Fall Conference Night, Monday, November 21.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  We are still in need of volunteers to provide food and items.  Please click here and sign up to donate an item!  It is greatly appreciated by our teachers!

Choice Time to Begin

Choice Time begins the week after Thanksgiving.  We are full for volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but we really need volunteers on Mondays and Wednesdays.  You can bring younger siblings!  We are also looking for a craft coordinator to come up with and assemble simple crafts in baggies that can be completed in 15 minutes.  If you are available to help out for 20 minutes (or more) once a week, once a month, or once in the winter, or serve as our craft coordinator, please email Heidi Gutowski at sarahandjacksmom@live.com.
