Community Meeting Offers Childcare

You are invited to a very special Board meeting on Wednesday, October 19 to receive important information about our proposed Educational Facility Master Plan (EFMP).  As you may know, the district is continuing to experience growth and this EFMP will provide a long-term solution for both our urgent facility needs now as well as planning for continued growth and academic excellence into the future.

The Board hired DLR Group in March to evaluate our current facility conditions and to facilitate a Core Team made up of community members, staff, administrators and facility leadership to discuss and create solutions that address our needs.  This presentation and conversation will be your first opportunity to give feedback to the Core Team on their recommended EFMP solution prior to Board consideration later this fall.

Please make arrangements to attend this very important presentation and conversation at Townline Elementary on October 19th at 7:00 p.m.  Childcare will be provided along with a light snack.  Please RSVP by Monday, October 17 to Wendy Peterson at petersonw@hawthorn73.org or call her at 847-990-4215.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Women in Leadership

District 73 is seeking mentors to join its female leadership academy and mentor girls in grades 4 through 8.

To kick off this new program, District 73 is inviting women who serve in leadership roles to attend a planning meeting at noon on Thursday, Oct. 6 in the District Office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills.

“This luncheon meeting will allow us to brainstorm and discuss our vision for students. We will discuss how managers, lawyers, engineers, bankers and PTO leaders can best mentor students through this program,” said Dr. Victoria Kieffer, who is spearheading the group.

The leadership academy is a part of the district’s volunteer program, FACES (Family and Community Engagement for Students) which supports the district’s strategic direction to develop a districtwide volunteer program to support student learning.

If you are interested in learning more about this program, please contact Townline Principal Kieffer at kiefferv@hawthorn73.org or call her at 847-990-4901.
